The main objective of this service position is to coordinate safety tasks and provide excellent safety services to ensure a safe working environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with safety regulations at the site/unit level across North and South America. They will also support the analysis of safety Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) using digital tools and platforms.

The ideal candidate should have a background in safety and possess the ability to collaborate with others on a global and regional scale. They should have excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, as well as the capability to understand and interpret safety regulations and technical issues related to digitalization and data analysis.

In this service role, the safety specialist will regularly interact with various teams and departments, including Business Units, Operating Divisions, EHS, Global Reporting, and regional and global Centers of Expertise. They will also collaborate with Energy teams to ensure the effective implementation of safety measures and the accurate analysis of safety KPIs using digital tools and platforms.

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental, Health and Safety or other technical discipline. 
  • Advanced degree in a technical/science discipline desirable. 
  • 3 to 5 years’ experience in related fields in EHS of Environmental and Occupational Health and Safety Fields.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills needed to engage with global and regional business contacts. 
  • The successful candidate must demonstrate ability to work well within a cross-functional, multi–Business Unit, virtual and matrixed business environment. 
  • Languages: Fluent English and Spanish. Portuguese desirable.
  • Knowledge of PC systems is required, advanced in excel is a must and Power Bi desired.
  • Data analysis and use for continuous improvement capabilities is a must. 

 

Key responsibilities

 

1. Coordinating incident reporting: You will oversee the incident reporting process, ensuring that incidents are accurately documented, investigated, and reported in a timely manner. This will involve working closely with site personnel of North and South America.

2. Maintaining accurate EHS data for North and South America: You will be responsible for collecting, organizing, and maintaining EHS data from various sources, ensuring its accuracy and integrity. This will involve utilizing digital tools and platforms to efficiently capture and manage data, as well as conducting regular data audits to identify and address any discrepancies.

3. Generating EHS reports: You will prepare and generate EHS reports, including but not limited to safety performance reports, compliance reports, and environmental impact reports. These reports will be shared with internal stakeholders, regulatory agencies, and other relevant parties to demonstrate compliance and track progress towards EHS goals.

4. Ensuring regulatory compliance: You will stay up-to-date with relevant EHS regulations and standards, ensuring that reporting processes and data collection methods align with these requirements. This will involve interpreting regulations, providing guidance to site personnel, and implementing necessary changes to reporting procedures to ensure compliance.

5. Collaborating with cross-functional teams: You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including EHS, operations, and finance, to gather relevant data and ensure accurate reporting. You will also work closely with IT teams to optimize data collection and reporting systems, identifying opportunities for automation and efficiency improvements.

6. Monitoring and analyzing EHS KPIs: You will monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) related to EHS, such as incident rates, near-miss reports, and compliance metrics. This will involve identifying trends, analyzing data, and providing insights and recommendations to improve EHS performance and mitigate risks.
