**Responsibilities**:

- Responsible for the creation, administration and monitoring of MySQL, PostgreSQL and other database systems and related infrastructure running in AWS.
- Administer Development, Test, Production and DR environments
- Function as an expert database technology consultant to multiple project teams, during any phase in the systems life cycle
- Assess and develop long-term strategic goals for databases environments in conjunction with data owners and department Managers.
- Provide input on capacity planning, high availability solutions and upgrade strategies.
- Support required database replication and automation processes.
- Support data lifecycle management processes.
- Implement monitoring process and/or tools to provide visibility into key database KPIs
- Work to resolve outages that may occur and perform root cause analysis post outage
- Ensure complete backup and restore capabilities for database systems
- Ensure successful integration and synchronization between multiple enterprise systems
- Create required reports in response to business user or customer needs
- Perform data updates as needed to resolve customer issues
- Create and maintain documentation
- Participate in an on-call support rotation
- Assist developers with complex queries and participate in SQL code reviews

**Requirements**:
**Must have**:

- Five years of experience in database design, installation, monitoring and administration
- Real-world experience administering MySQL and Postgres databases in production
- Two years of experience configuring, integrating, and securing multiple AWS database offerings (ex. RDS, Aurora, Casandra, and Dynamo)
- Experience with MySQL and PostgreSQL replication, clustering, backup and restore, performance tuning and monitoring
- Experience designing large enterprise solutions (ex. high availability, disaster recovery, data management)
- Three years of performance tuning and optimization experience
- Three years relational database design experience
- Knowledge of Agile methodologies or the software development life cycle (SDLC)
- Multiple scripting languages in your toolbox (e.g. Python, GO, PERL, bash)
- Experience with source code control tools such as GitHub, bitbucket,

**Nice to have**:

- Familiarity with Redis
- Experience with Oracle or MS SQL database administration
- Familiarity with Elastic Search
- Experience with data warehousing and ETL processes
- Familiarity with SOC2
- Experience with CI/CD and automated database change deployment
- Experience with Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, or other configuration management tools
