About the Job:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Engineer to design, build, and optimize our mission-critical data platform, which is fundamentally built on SQL Azure for ZoneReporting. You will be instrumental in developing and maintaining high-performance ELT pipelines and ensuring the speed and reliability of our systems. A core responsibility is owning the orchestration, monitoring, and optimization of these pipelines using Azure Data Factory (ADF). This role requires deep expertise in database development, specifically in writing and tuning complex Stored Procedures for business logic, and managing secure, repeatable schema deployments using DACPAC methodology. Your work will directly enable our customers to unlock the power of their data and drive real business decisions. This position is for an expert in the Microsoft data ecosystem and data architecture who is passionate about building scalable, production-ready solutions.

Responsibilities: 

• Maintain and Optimize ELT Processes: Provide ongoing support for our existing bespoke ELT (Extract, Load, Transform) pipelines. This includes optimizing data ingestion and transformation jobs to improve performance, reliability, and cost-efficiency.
• Manage Data Warehouse and Analytics Environment: Administer and maintain the current data warehouse, which leverages Azure Data Factory, SQL Azure Databases, and other services. Ensure data quality, consistency, and integrity for reporting and analysis.
• Support Data Visualizations: Collaborate with business intelligence developers and data analysts to support BI dashboards and reports. This includes troubleshooting data-related issues and optimizing data models to ensure data freshness and performance.
• Troubleshoot and Resolve Issues: Act as a subject matter expert for the existing data infrastructure. Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues related to Azure Data Factory, SQL Azure, and data pipelines.
• Collaborate with Stakeholders: Work closely with data scientists, data analysts, and business teams to understand their data requirements and translate them into effective, scalable data solutions.

Qualifications: 

• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Technology, or a related quantitative field 
•  At least 3 years of professional experience in a data-centric role, specifically in data engineering and performance optimization.
• SQL Mastery: Expert-level SQL proficiency within the Azure SQL environment, including writing complex Stored Procedures and proven expertise in query performance tuning, execution plan analysis, and indexing strategies on large datasets.
• Azure Tooling: Proven experience designing and deploying ELT solutions using Azure Data Factory (ADF).
• Data Architecture: Deep understanding and hands-on experience with data warehouse design principles, including dimensional modeling (star schemas) and implementing multi-stage architectures (e.g., Bronze, Silver, Gold layers).
• Database Lifecycle: Strong familiarity with database lifecycle management, including schema deployment using DACPAC.
• Troubleshooting: Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve end-to-end system performance bottlenecks, from the data source to the reporting layer.
• Version Control: Expert knowledge of Git, including advanced branching strategies, pull request workflows, and merge conflict resolution.

• Knowledge of Power BI is a plus, but not required.
