Position Overview
The Salesforce DevOps is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing deployments across Salesforce environments. This role ensures that configuration changes, custom development, integrations, and releases move smoothly from development to production with minimal risk and maximum efficiency. The ideal candidate has strong technical expertise in Salesforce, excellent communication skills, and a proven track record of managing release pipelines in complex, multi-org environments.
Key Responsibilities
Own and manage the end-to-end Salesforce deployment process across sandbox and production environments.
Build, maintain, and optimize CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Git, GitHub/GitLab, Azure DevOps, Bitbucket, Copado, or Gearset.
Coordinate release schedules, ensuring alignment with business priorities and technical constraints.
Conduct deployment validations, pre-deployment checks, and post-deployment testing.
Manage version control strategies, branching models, and metadata tracking.
Environment Management
Oversee sandbox strategy (refresh cycles, data seeding, conflict management).
Ensure proper environment alignment across development, QA, UAT, and production.
Monitor and resolve environment-related issues (integration failures, deployment collisions, metadata conflicts).
Change Governance
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Admins, Developers, Architects, Product Owners) to review and prioritize change requests.
Enforce change management processes to maintain system stability and compliance.
Establish and document deployment procedures, standards, and best practices.
Quality Assurance & Risk Mitigation
Partner with QA teams to validate deployment readiness and coordinate testing cycles.
Identify risks related to deployments and recommend mitigation strategies.
Ensure rollback and recovery plans are in place for all major releases.
Collaboration & Communication
Serve as the central point of contact for all Salesforce deployment activities.
Communicate deployment timelines, risks, and updates to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Train team members on deployment tooling, processes, and environment usage.
Qualifications
Required
3–5+ years of experience managing Salesforce deployments in enterprise or multi-team environments.
Strong understanding of Salesforce metadata, packaging, APIs, and release processes.
Hands-on experience with Git-based version control and CI/CD tools (Copado, Gearset, Flosum, Jenkins, DevOps Center, etc.).
Familiarity with Salesforce development lifecycle (SDLC) and agile methodologies.
Ability to troubleshoot deployment errors and resolve metadata conflicts.
Excellent organizational, communication, and documentation skills.
Preferred
Salesforce certifications such as:
Salesforce Administrator
Platform App Builder
DevOps Center Specialist
Salesforce DevOps or CI/CD tool certifications (Copado, Gearset)
Experience supporting multiple Salesforce clouds or complex integration landscapes.
Background in software release management, DevOps, or environment architecture.
