You would be responsible for:
- Support Trafigura’s compliance with federal and state regulatory requirements across the US and Canada, with a focus on petroleum products and refined metals.
- Provide clear, practical guidance to trading and operations teams on regulatory obligations and to ensure accurate and timely submission of filings and regulatory reports.
- Contribute to the continued development of robust internal regulatory processes and to assist in the monitoring of regulatory developments affecting Trafigura’s commercial activities.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities, Key Responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and help ensure compliance with a range of environmental, energy, and customs regulations, including fuel standards, emissions reports and import and export controls.
- Prepare, review and submit regulatory filings and reports to agencies such as the EPA, DOE, Canadian federal regulators and customs authorities, including but not limited to:
- EIA and RRC reporting, CER monthly filings, reconciliation processes (Value and Free Trade Agreements), and duty drawback.
- Manage invoice processing in internal systems and maintain compliance documentation to ensure accuracy and regulatory alignment.
- Communicate relevant regulatory changes and requirements to internal teams, ensuring all relevant stakeholders are informed.
Key Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in International Commerce or a related field preferred; alternatively, advanced career progression in a similar field.
- Strong analytical and systems skills (e.g., Excel, Business Objects).
- Strong command of the English language.
- Strong research skills and ability to interpret complex regulations.

- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a broader team.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proactive approach to identifying and addressing regulatory changes.
Key Relationships and Department Overview:
Reporting to the Regional Manager of Customs and Regulatory Compliance.
