Application, Database & Security Administrator Job Summary The Application, Database & Security Administrator is responsible for building, implementing, operating, and supporting application and database environments while ensuring system availability, performance, security, and operational stability. This position oversees and tunes system performance, establishes and manages user and database access controls, and helps prevent, monitor, investigate, and address security events. The role also provides technical leadership and guidance to other IT resources supporting application, database, and security administration activities. The position requires strong hands-on experience with production application support, Microsoft environments, Microsoft SQL administration, security and access controls, vendor coordination, troubleshooting, and operational processes. Experience supporting financial or banking applications is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities
Application & Production Operations
• Develop, implement, and monitor procedures supporting daily operations, including file transfers, scheduled jobs, batch processes, integrations, and process execution.
• Plan, coordinate, and support daily operational activities for assigned applications and related processes.
• Monitor application availability, scheduled processes, integrations, job results, alerts, interface failures, operational exceptions, and overall application health.
• Create and maintain scripts, reports, and automation to support application operations, monitoring, troubleshooting, and repetitive tasks.
• Review application logs, job results, alerts, user activity, interface failures, and operational exceptions to maintain production stability.
• Provide after-hours and on-call support for critical production issues when required.
• Identify recurring operational issues, recommend preventive actions, and continuously improve application support procedures. Application & Database Support
• Build, implement, operate, and support application and database environments.
• Oversee, monitor, and tune system performance.
• Support application-related data validation and basic database inquiries as required.
• Provide support for application and database-related issues and coordinate with vendors, infrastructure teams, developers, analysts, and business users to ensure timely resolution and operational stability.
• Apply Microsoft SQL administration experience when supporting database-related activities.
• Database administration experience beyond Microsoft SQL is considered a plus but is not required. Incident Management & Troubleshooting
• Troubleshoot application, interface, batch, file transfer, database, and production issues using strong analytical and logical reasoning skills.
• Investigate production incidents, identify root causes, coordinate resolution activities, and document findings.
• Communicate incident status, business impact, action plans, progress, and resolution updates to business users, vendors, technical teams, and management.
• Escalate incidents and operational issues to the appropriate internal or external support teams when necessary.
• Track assigned tasks and incidents independently, follow up on open issues, manage priorities, monitor progress, and provide status updates. Security, Access Management & Controls
• Establish and manage user and database access controls.
• Manage user access, roles, profiles, role-based access, and application permissions according to internal security policies and audit requirements.
• Enforce change control, audit logging, access management, and operational procedures.
• Prevent, monitor, investigate, and help address security events involving supported applications and environments.
• Support information protection procedures and guidelines related to assigned applications.
• Participate in security reviews, evaluations, audits, and risk assessments for supported applications.
• Support the implementation of application controls, access controls, and operational safeguards designed to address identified risks.
• Support operational, audit, regulatory, compliance, and risk-control requirements for assigned applications. Application Implementations & Change Management
• Gather requirements and evaluate technical, operational, security, and support impacts during application implementations, enhancements, upgrades, conversions, or other changes.
• Define operational, support, and communication requirements, including process improvements and escalation procedures.
• Work with developers, analysts, vendors, infrastructure resources, and other technical teams to support application changes, enhancements, integrations, and issue resolution.
• Support application upgrades, conversions, implementations, and production releases.
• Analyze business needs and understand the associated operational workflows and complex business processes. Vendor Management
• Work directly with software vendors to support:
• Production incidents and issue resolution
• Application upgrades
• Patches
• Regulatory changes
• Certificates
• Integrations
• Implementations
• Conversions
• Production support activities
• Maintain current knowledge of supported applications, vendor releases, operational cycles, new features, and their business and IT impact. Cloud & AWS Support
• Support cloud-related application activities, including deployments in AWS Cloud and AWS services.
• Apply an understanding of cloud concepts when supporting application environments.
• AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner certification is preferred. Documentation & Communication
• Create and maintain technical documentation, operating procedures, support procedures, runbooks, knowledge documents, and incident notes.
• Write clear technical procedures that can be followed by internal teams and support resources.
• Communicate effectively with business users, technical teams, management, vendors, and support partners.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to other IT resources involved in application, database, and security administration. Required Skills & Technical Knowledge
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, logical reasoning, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to analyze complex applications, interfaces, batch processes, file transfers, databases, and production issues.
• Experience supporting business or financial applications in a production environment.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft environments.
• Microsoft SQL administration experience.
• Knowledge of IT operations, change control, access management, audit logging, security controls, and production support processes.
• Ability to coordinate effectively with software vendors regarding incidents, upgrades, patches, implementations, and issue resolution.
• Understanding of cloud concepts and experience supporting cloud-related application activities.
• Ability to analyze business needs, operational workflows, and complex processes.
• Ability to create clear technical documentation, procedures, runbooks, and incident notes.
• Ability to work independently, manage priorities, follow up on open issues, and provide timely status updates.
• Ability to manage stress effectively, particularly when supporting critical production incidents.
• Strong knowledge of the Bank's primary applications is highly desirable.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills in English and Spanish. Education Bachelor's degree in:

- Preferred Work Experience
• Minimum of three (3) years of direct experience in IT operations, IT applications, and security administration.
• Minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience working with different types of computer environments.
• Experience supporting banking environments is desired.
• Experience supporting financial or other business-critical applications in production environments.
• Experience working with Microsoft environments and Microsoft SQL administration.
• Experience coordinating application support activities with software vendors and internal technology teams.
• Experience analyzing business needs, operational workflows, and complex processes.
• Experience writing technical procedures and operational documentation.
